68.p. Psalms 119:12

Psalms 119:12  Blessed are you, O LORD; teach me your statutes!

1 John 2:27    But the anointing that you received from him abides in you, and you have no need that anyone should teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about everything, and is true, and is no lie—just as it has taught you, abide in him.

John 14:26   But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.

Romans 12:2  Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

The Educated Conscience: The Role of the Holy Spirit and Scripture

For the conscience to function as God intends, it must be informed and shaped by divine truth. The process of educating the conscience involves regular exposure to Scripture, prayerful reflection, and openness to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The Psalmist pleads, “Teach me your statutes!” (Psalm 119:12), recognizing the need for God’s revelation to enlighten the mind and heart. The Holy Spirit illuminates the meaning of Scripture, applying its truths to the believer’s life and conscience. As the mind is renewed (Romans 12:2), the conscience becomes a more reliable guide, increasingly aligned with God’s will rather than merely human opinion or cultural norms. (MacDonald)
