Because our times have so changed since early 2020, almost everyone is breathless and almost everyone is saying the same thing—they never thought they would see the things happen like they are happening today! Whoever thought an invisible enemy, a virus no less, could turn the world upside down? Let’s consider just a few of these issues.

I never thought I would see the day when:

Prisoners would be let out of jail at the very same time Christians were being kept out of the church.

It would be so obvious why America is not a prominent player in Bible prophecy. Something had to neutralize us, or a series of events would weaken the superpower.

People I admired and trusted told me they were going to report good people to authorities who weren’t keeping the “letter of the law” such as proper social distancing. Friends reporting friends? Neighbors reporting neighbors? Has love grown cold?

The Coronavirus would do us all a favor and put “Drag Queen Story Hour” out of business for a season!

It would be so blatantly obvious that we are in the absolute last of the last days—in fact, the last hour—but our pulpits still insist on being quiet about that. For the first time, many people truly want to understand the times and how the Bible applies to them!

The media would call Republicans “the party of death” when they just want to open businesses and save the lives of millions who are in total despair. Suicide, alcoholism, and drug abuse are soaring.
The one institution pushing back on the despair, the church, would be declared “non-essential” but not marijuana shops or some abortion clinics.
In just a matter of weeks, people accepted surveillance in the name of safety and security. No one questions drones, cameras, and apps watching our every move.
Businesses that took a lifetime to build and that even spanned three generations, were destroyed in a few weeks—not just in America but around the world.
Some cities are asking churches to keep logs of every person who enters their building so they can then be tracked and traced.
Some churches can re-open but with limitless restrictions including how you handle communion, but Costco and Home Depot are allowed hundreds of customers with just a couple of restrictions.
Amidst the Coronavirus crisis, many would rush to the defense of China who caused it all to happen!
Vaccines, that once saved lives, would get so corrupted that they now risk lives, yet there is talk that all Americans must get a vaccine for the Coronavirus. Constitutional scholar, Alan Dershowitz, says the government absolutely can “plunge a needle into your arm.”
The rugged American spirit that drove pioneers west, would get so diminished that many caved to the whims of politicians, who obsessed over masks and social distancing. And we let them.
Two unknown doctors appeared daily in press briefings presenting their evidence to ruin our great country and it seemed like our leaders never gathered a second opinion. And when some spoke up to differ, they were shut down.

The stage is clearly being set for the Tribulation, yet most people are clueless because Bible prophecy has been deemed irrelevant and inconvenient. The world is being prepared for a demonic savior, yet the masses are not only clueless, but they will also run pell-mell into his arms. He will promise to restore order out of this chaos. He is waiting in the wings. His title is Antichrist. You never thought you would live to see this day either, did you?

We’re not just end-time kooks wandering down Main Street warning about a zombie apocalypse. We’re warning that the Bible predicted some things that would set the stage for the final moments of history as we know it. The Church would be removed before the curtain could go up and that final dramatic scene could be played out.

That final scene is imminent. Everything is falling into place. Don’t delay putting your faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of your life. You are not guaranteed a tomorrow to make that call.

11.m.”The Lord is good”

Nahum 1:7 The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; he knows those who take refuge in him. But with an overflowing flood he will make a complete end of the adversaries, and will pursue his enemies into darkness.

1 Chronicles 16:34     Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever!

Psalms 25:8    Good and upright is the LORD; therefore he instructs sinners in the way.

Psalms 100:5     For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.

Lamentations 3:25    The LORD is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him.

Romans 11:22   Note then the kindness and the severity of God: severity toward those who have fallen, but God’s kindness to you, provided you continue in his kindness. Otherwise you too will be cut off.

Do you think about the “Good of our Lord and Savior”? I am sure thoughts about His saving grace, mercy, forgiveness, and promise of forever with Him in eternity are present most days. But the “Good or our Savior” is more than that. He has given us each talent to use. These talents allow us to fix, repair, build, grow, lead, and apply knowledge. These are not burdens but often we fall into the trap of calling them a burden. We say things like “I have to” do something rather than thanking God for the talents that allow us to say “I get to” do something. These talents are not a burden, they are God’s gift to us. He has given us abilities that help us and certainly can be used to help others. These abilities are not “I have to’s” but “I get to’s”. When we have thoughts of our abilities as having to use them we won’t have a mindset to be thanking God for them. We will have thoughts of them being a burden and our heart for whatever the task is will not be giving God praise and thanks. Granted some of our gifts will get us dirty, tired, and mentally exhausted as we use them. It sure makes the task or job much more meaningful to do when we “get to” use our gifts rather than “have to”. Each of us has been given both physical and spiritual gifts. In these gifts of abilities and talents, we have a great opportunity to thank and honor God by how we use them and how we think about “Getting to” use them. When have you taken a mental inventory of all the gifts, talents, and abilities God has given you? When we are mindful of them it is a good foundation for putting honor and glory and thankfulness in to “Getting to us them”.

11.l. “Who can stand before his indignation?”

Nahum 1:6 Who can stand before his indignation? Who can endure the heat of his anger? His wrath is poured out like fire, and the rocks are broken into pieces by him

Jeremiah 10:10     But the LORD is the true God; he is the living God and the everlasting King. At his wrath the earth quakes, and the nations cannot endure his indignation.

Malachi 3:2    But who can endure the day of his coming, and who can stand when he appears? For he is like a refiner’s fire and like fullers’ soap.

Lamentations 4:11    The LORD gave full vent to his wrath; he poured out his hot anger, and he kindled a fire in Zion that consumed its foundations.

Revelation 16:1    Then I heard a loud voice from the temple telling the seven angels, “Go and pour out on the earth the seven bowls of the wrath of God.”

John 3:36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.

Human terms cannot give the full meaning of the infinite and sovereign God’s emotional experiences. As his love is infinitely incomprehensible, so are his displeasure, hate, anger, wrath, and vengeance. There is good reason indeed for the writer to the Hebrews to warn sinful people that it “is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. God provided a way for divine redemption—repentance—forgiveness—salvation—which turns His wrath away from the sinner. To reject that perfect plan of restoration is to reject God’s love, mercy, grace, and favor and incur His righteous wrath. The judgment of God has serious eternal consequences for the unrepentant sinner. The one who believes in the Son will not suffer God’s wrath for his sin, because the Son took God’s wrath upon Himself when He died in our place on the cross. Those who do not believe in the Son, who do not receive Him as Savior, will be judged on the day of wrath.

11.k. “For he is a holy God. He is a jealous God”

Nahum 1:2 The Lord is a jealous and avenging God; the Lord is avenging and wrathful; the Lord takes vengeance on his adversaries and keeps wrath for his enemies. The Lord is slow to anger and great in power, and the Lord will by no means clear the guilty. His way is in whirlwind and storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet. He rebukes the sea and makes it dry; he dries up all the rivers; Bashan and Carmel wither; the bloom of Lebanon withers. The mountains quake before him; the hills melt; the earth heaves before him, the world and all who dwell in it.

Exodus 20:5    You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me,

Deuteronomy 4:24    For the LORD your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.

Joshua 24:19   But Joshua said to the people, “You are not able to serve the LORD, for he is a holy God. He is a jealous God;

The Bible clearly teaches that God is a jealous God. Exodus 20:5 states, “You shall not bow down to them [other gods] or serve them, for I the LORD your God am a jealous God.” How are we to understand God’s jealousy when the Bible also says that jealousy is a sin (Galatians 5:20)? Isn’t this a contradiction? The key is context. God revealed the Ten Commandments to the people of Israel. He commanded allegiance and worship to Him alone. He would not tolerate the worship of other gods (a practice common in Egypt and other nations). God was “jealous” in the sense that He expected full devotion, not merely a partial, lukewarm commitment. Worship belongs to God, and He is right to be “jealous” of it. Yes, God is a jealous God. Why? Because He will not share His praise with another: “I am the LORD; that is my name; my glory I give to no other, nor my praise to carved idols” . God carefully maintains and protects what is rightly His. This is divine jealousy, and it is worlds apart from the type of sinful jealousy that causes people to envy, suspect, and resent others.

When God was going to describe Himself, on one occasion He called Himself, “Jealous.” This denotes something of God’s nature. In other translations the word ‘zealous’ is used – these words have the same root, and show God’s character in vigilantly guarding that which is His. God breathed the breath of life into the first man. He breathed this life into every person. God jealously yearns for – desires – this spirit in us. “Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, ‘The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously’?” God does not want our spirits to be consumed by this world or by the god of this world, who is the devil. God wants a relationship with our human spirit. However, the god of this world, the devil, is active as well. He also wants to get a hold of our human spirit, to influence us to do his will. He has come to destroy us, and he speaks to our “flesh.” “The flesh Sin is anything that goes against God’s will and His laws. To commit sin is to transgress or disobey these laws. The lust to sin dwells in human nature. In other words, it is contaminated and motivated by want/lust for the worldly and fleshly. It is in this battle God is a jealous God. He is zealous (jealous) for our spirits. He wants us to be zealous, with “God’s zeal” in this battle. God is “jealous” in the sense that He expected full devotion, not merely a partial, lukewarm commitment. He wants all of our hearts, minds, soul, and strength given to honor, glorify, praise, worship, follow, obey, trust, and rely on Him. He is jealous for us to know and serve Him fully. He is jealous for us to know and experience His precious promises, purpose, grace, mercy, and love. If we are to be fully devoted and surrendered to Him we can not share any part of our lives seeking after that which is worldly and fleshly, nor can we be lukewarm, complacent, or neglectful.

11.j. “People are like fuel for the fire”

Nahum 1:1 An oracle concerning Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum of Elkosh.

Zechariah 9:1 For the LORD has an eye on mankind and on all the tribes of Israel,

Isaiah 9:16 for those who guide this people have been leading them astray, and those who are guided by them are swallowed up. Therefore the Lord does not rejoice over their young men, and has no compassion on their fatherless and widows; for everyone is godless and an evildoer, and every mouth speaks folly. For all this his anger has not turned away, and his hand is stretched out still. For wickedness burns like a fire; it consumes briers and thorns; it kindles the thickets of the forest, and they roll upward in a column of smoke. Through the wrath of the LORD of hosts the land is scorched, and the people are like fuel for the fire; no one spares another.

When Jonah preached repentance on the streets of Nineveh, the capital of Assyria, the people responded and were spared. A century later, sometime between 663 and 612 b.c., Nahum preached in a time when Nineveh would not repent. Nineveh, which had destroyed Israel’s northern kingdom in 722, itself fell to Babylon in 612—just a few years after Nahum’s warning. The Assyrians were notorious for the brutality of their treatment of other nations. Nahum declared, however, that God is sovereign: he punishes whom he will, and they are powerless to stop him. Much of Nahum’s prophecy was directed to the people of Judah, who could rejoice at the good news (1:15) of Nineveh’s impending fall.

11.i. “Who is like you, O LORD”

Micah 7:18 Who is a God like you, pardoning iniquity and passing over transgression for the remnant of his inheritance? He does not retain his anger forever, because he delights in steadfast love. He will again have compassion on us; he will tread our iniquities underfoot. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea. You will show faithfulness to Jacob and steadfast love to Abraham, as you have sworn to our fathers from the days of old.

Exodus 15:11 “Who is like you, O LORD, among the gods? Who is like you, majestic in holiness, awesome in glorious deeds, doing wonders?

1 Kings 8:23 and said, “O LORD, God of Israel, there is no God like you, in heaven above or on earth beneath, keeping covenant and showing steadfast love to your servants who walk before you with all their heart;

Psalms 35:10 All my bones shall say, “O LORD, who is like you, delivering the poor from him who is too strong for him, the poor and needy from him who robs him?”

Isaiah 46:8-9 “Remember this and stand firm, recall it to mind, you transgressors, remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me,

Ezekiel 33:11 Say to them, As I live, declares the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live; turn back, turn back from your evil ways, for why will you die, O house of Israel?

Who is like God? No one, nothing. God alone is the great I AM. Creator, Father, Savior. Righteous, Holy, Eternal. Promise Maker, Promise Keeper. All-knowing, all-powerful, ever-present. Slow to anger, gracious, merciful, steadfast love. Life-giver, sick healer, soul saver. This is our God. His love abounds on those who, by faith, look to Jesus Christ redemption on the cross for their sin. His promise of eternity with Him forever and ever is theirs. Their lives are forever changed. Their eyes and ears are open to hear His leading and guiding them on paths that honor and glorify Him.

11.h. “The nations shall see and be ashamed of all their might”

Micah 7:13 But the earth will be desolate because of its inhabitants, for the fruit of their deeds. Shepherd your people with your staff, the flock of your inheritance, who dwell alone in a forest in the midst of a garden land; let them graze in Bashan and Gilead as in the days of old. As in the days when you came out of the land of Egypt, I will show them marvelous things. The nations shall see and be ashamed of all their might; they shall lay their hands on their mouths; their ears shall be deaf; they shall lick the dust like a serpent, like the crawling things of the earth; they shall come trembling out of their strongholds; they shall turn in dread to the LORD our God, and they shall be in fear of you.

Job 4:8    As I have seen, those who plow iniquity and sow trouble reap the same.

Proverbs 1:31    therefore they shall eat the fruit of their way, and have their fill of their own devices.

Isaiah 3:10-11    Tell the righteous that it shall be well with them, for they shall eat the fruit of their deeds.  Woe to the wicked! It shall be ill with him, for what his hands have dealt out shall be done to him.

Jeremiah 17:10    “I the LORD search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.”

Jeremiah 21:14    I will punish you according to the fruit of your deeds, declares the LORD; I will kindle a fire in her forest, and it shall devour all that is around her.”

Galatians 6:7-8   Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap.  For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.

There is a time coming when all mankind will be held accountable for their deeds. Some will see in their lifetime the fruit of their deeds falling back on them. Others will pass on into eternity and it will be seeming to us that they beat the judgment due them. God is not mocked and their deeds will catch up to them in eternity at the Great White Throne Judgment. They are the ones who reject redemption through Jesus Christ, reject their sin, reject their need for repentance and forgiveness, and reject the gracious and merciful gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ. They have chosen wisdom of this world over the understanding, knowledge, and truth proclaimed in God’s Word. We all were in this state before God, but He somehow softened our heart to the message of the gospel. We were just like those who still reject Jesus Christ. It is hard to say how God’s Word and Gospel cut straight into our heart but it most certainly did. I still don’t know how a person could have had their eyes, heart, mind, and soul opened up to the gospel and the need for salvation, forgiveness, and redemption and then reject it. But scripture is clear that there are those who do exactly that. For those born again, their deeds should all be for the honor and glory of Jesus Christ. Our Savior bought and paid for our sin at a great price and we should ever be mindful to live to honor that great sacrifice and gift of eternal life.

11.g. From Dr. Jeremiah yesterday

1Corinthians 15:47 The first man was from the earth, a man of dust; the second man is from heaven. As was the man of dust, so also are those who are of the dust, and as is the man of heaven, so also are those who are of heaven. Just as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the man of heaven.

The question of one’s purpose in life is posed this way: “What is your purpose in life?” It reflects our interest in finding God’s path for the future. But purpose can also be discussed a different way: “What is God’s ultimate purpose for your life?” That suggests there is an eternal purpose to which all of our changing experiences and directions in life contribute.

Then there is: Christlikeness. Remember: Paul wrote that Christ was the “last Adam,” the One who came to redeem and restore what the “first man Adam” lost (1 Corinthians 15:45). God’s ultimate purpose for us is to be conformed to the image of His Son so “that He might be the firstborn among many brethren” (Romans 8:29). The Holy Spirit contributes to our conformation to Christ by giving us gifts (Christ’s hands) and traits (Christ’s heart) through the fruit of the Spirit. God even uses the difficult times in our life to conform us to Christ (Romans 8:28-29). You likely have a purpose for today. But remember it is only a step on the path to God’s ultimate purpose of Christlikeness.

11.f. “To open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God”

Micah 7:8 Rejoice not over me, O my enemy; when I fall, I shall rise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord will be a light to me. I will bear the indignation of the Lord because I have sinned against him, until he pleads my cause and executes judgment for me. He will bring me out to the light; I shall look upon his vindication. Then my enemy will see, and shame will cover her who said to me, “Where is the Lord your God?” My eyes will look upon her; now she will be trampled down like the mire of the streets.

Isaiah 60:19-20    The sun shall be no more your light by day, nor for brightness shall the moon give you light; but the LORD will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory.  Your sun shall no more go down, nor your moon withdraw itself; for the LORD will be your everlasting light, and your days of mourning shall be ended.

Psalms 97:11    Light is sown for the righteous, and joy for the upright in heart.

Psalms 112:4     Light dawns in the darkness for the upright; he is gracious, merciful, and righteous.

Psalms 27:1   The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Malachi 4:2   But for you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness shall rise with healing in its wings. You shall go out leaping like calves from the stall.

John 8:12    Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

Acts 26:18    to open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’

Revelation 21:23    And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb.

Talk about faith and power through Jesus Christ – “when I fall, I shall rise, when I sit in darkness, the Lord will be a light to me”!! How many times have you been in darkness? Not the light associated with light and dark but darkness in your soul. I am sure you can relate to this type of darkness when your heartaches, your mind can’t seem to get out of the rut of some rejecting or negative thought, and no matter how hard your try the light of resolve for the darkness seems out of reach. Days seem to drag on and you hope tomorrow is better somehow. this is how it goes when we are looking from within our own self-reliance to overcome the darkness that is robbing light from our days. Maybe we could learn to trust Jesus Christ more. Maybe we could rely on Him more. Maybe we could call out to Him more. Maybe we could believe in Him more. Maybe we could claim His promises more. I am confident that if we did we too could say, “when I fall, I shall rise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord will be a light to me.”

11.e. “The prince and the judge ask for a bribe, and the great man utters the evil desire of his soul; thus they weave it together.”

Micah 7:1 Woe is me! For I have become as when the summer fruit has been gathered, as when the grapes have been gleaned: there is no cluster to eat, no first-ripe fig that my soul desires. The godly has perished from the earth, and there is no one upright among mankind; they all lie in wait for blood, and each hunts the other with a net. Their hands are on what is evil, to do it well; the prince and the judge ask for a bribe, and the great man utters the evil desire of his soul; thus they weave it together. The best of them is like a brier, the most upright of them a thorn hedge. The day of your watchmen, of your punishment, has come; now their confusion is at hand. Put no trust in a neighbor; have no confidence in a friend; guard the doors of your mouth from her who lies in your arms; for the son treats the father with contempt, the daughter rises up against her mother, the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; a man’s enemies are the men of his own house. But as for me, I will look to the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me.

Psalms 12:1    Save, O LORD, for the godly one is gone; for the faithful have vanished from among the children of man.

Psalms 14:1-3    The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds; there is none who does good.  The LORD looks down from heaven on the children of man, to see if there are any who understand, who seek after God.  They have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt; there is none who does good, not even one.

Romans 3:10-18     as it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one;  no one understands; no one seeks for God.  All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.”  “Their throat is an open grave; they use their tongues to deceive.” “The venom of asps is under their lips.”  “Their mouth is full of curses and bitterness.”  “Their feet are swift to shed blood;  in their paths are ruin and misery,  and the way of peace they have not known.”  “There is no fear of God before their eyes.”

We look at the times we are in and have to wonder what it will be like in the future when those who love Jesus Christ are gone. It will be a time when the anger and wrath of God are not withheld. It will be a time of punishment and a time of confusion. It will be a time when trust is no longer a virtue. We want to trust words that people speak and write. We want to believe they are speaking the truth. Even now we find it hard to believe anything that is reported. News has become a political tool for the narratives the various media outlets determine to be important. There is little news that is not tainted with bias or lies. There is, however, a mountain of confusion from our elected officials and media outlets. There are lies and more lies. They utter evil desires of their heart and it is weaved together through their intents. The best of them is like a thorn. They have turned aside and together they have become corrupt. They are full of bitterness. The way of peace they have not known. There is no fear of God before their eyes. Ruin and misery follow them.

This is the world we live in but is not our home. We have our eyes on our Savior, Redeemer, and Son of God, Jesus Christ. We can see the lies, bias, and half-truths. We understand the way of the world and it should draw us closer to Jesus Christ. Our hope is built on Him and not the things of this world. I wonder if the best thing we could do right now is to turn off all news and social media outlets for 10 days. I am certain our lives would not be as helpless or hopeless as they try to convince us it is.
