1 Kings 19:1 \u00a0 <\/span>Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword. Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, \u201cSo may the gods do to me and more also, if I do not make your life as the life of one of them by this time tomorrow.\u201d Then he was afraid, and he arose and ran for his life and came to Beersheba, which belongs to Judah, and left his servant there.<\/p>\n

But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness and came and sat down under a broom tree. And he asked that he might die, saying, \u201cIt is enough; now, O Lord, take away my life, for I am no better than my fathers.\u201d And he lay down and slept under a broom tree. And behold, an angel touched him and said to him, \u201cArise and eat.\u201d And he looked, and behold, there was at his head a cake baked on hot stones and a jar of water. And he ate and drank and lay down again. And the angel of the Lord came again a second time and touched him and said, \u201cArise and eat, for the journey is too great for you.\u201d And he arose and ate and drank, and went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights to Horeb, the mount of God.<\/p>\n

Isaiah 40:29-31<\/b><\/span><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0\u00a0He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength.\u00a0\u00a0Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted;\u00a0\u00a0but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.<\/p>\n

2 Corinthians 12:9<\/b><\/span><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0\u00a0But he said to me, \u201cMy grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.\u201d Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.<\/p>\n

Jeremiah 1:6-9<\/b><\/span><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0\u00a0Then I said, \u201cAh, Lord GOD! Behold, I do not know how to speak, for I am only a youth.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0But the LORD said to me, \u201cDo not say, \u2018I am only a youth\u2019; for to all to whom I send you, you shall go, and whatever I command you, you shall speak.\u00a0\u00a0Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you, declares the LORD.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0Then the LORD put out his hand and touched my mouth. And the LORD said to me, \u201cBehold, I have put my words in your mouth.<\/p>\n

Isaiah 43:2<\/b><\/span><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0\u00a0When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.<\/p>\n

Philippians 4:13<\/b><\/span><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0I can do all things through him who strengthens me.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

To wait on the Lord requires a patient faith. There is sometimes tension and stretching involved because God wants to renew you and make you stronger. Perhaps you feel the tension of a delayed answer to prayer. Maybe you feel like God isn\u2019t answering your prayer at all. Maybe things have not turned out like you thought they would. You must exercise patient faith. Continue to trust God. Continue to believe His promises. When you feel the tension, and stretching of the moment, wait on the Lord.<\/p>\n

Waiting requires you to rest, to be patient, to turn it over to God, to allow Him to do His work, and to wait passively. This is ultimately what faith requires. I must rest and wait on Him. I must trust that God sees more, knows more, and is more powerful than I am. God can do more in a moment than I can do in a lifetime.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
