1 Kings 18:20 \u00a0 <\/span>So Ahab sent to all the people of Israel and gathered the prophets together at Mount Carmel. And Elijah came near to all the people and said, \u201cHow long will you go limping between two different opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal, then follow him.\u201d And the people did not answer him a word.<\/p>\n

Matthew 6:24<\/b><\/span><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0\u00a0\u201cNo one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other.<\/p>\n

Romans 6:16-22<\/b><\/span><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0\u00a0But what fruit were you getting at that time from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death.<\/p>\n

Revelation 3:15-16<\/b><\/span><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0\u00a0\u201c\u2018I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot!\u00a0\u00a0So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.<\/p>\n

Psalms 100:3<\/b><\/span><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0\u00a0Know that the LORD, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.<\/p>\n

Matthew 22:1\u00a0 <\/span>And again Jesus spoke to them in parables, saying, \u201cThe kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who gave a wedding feast for his son, and sent his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding feast, but they would not come. Again he sent other servants, saying, \u2018Tell those who are invited, \u201cSee, I have prepared my dinner, my oxen and my fat calves have been slaughtered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding feast.\u201d\u2019 But they paid no attention and went off, one to his farm, another to his business, while the rest seized his servants, treated them shamefully, and killed them. The king was angry, and he sent his troops and destroyed those murderers and burned their city. Then he said to his servants, \u2018The wedding feast is ready, but those invited were not worthy. Go therefore to the main roads and invite to the wedding feast as many as you find.\u2019 And those servants went out into the roads and gathered all whom they found, both bad and good. So the wedding hall was filled with guests.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut when the king came in to look at the guests, he saw there a man who had no wedding garment. And he said to him, Friend, how did you get in here without a wedding garment?\u2019 And he was speechless. Then the king said to the attendants, \u2018Bind him hand and foot and cast him into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.\u2019 For many are called, but few are chosen.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Tabletalk Magazine; God is not interested in halfhearted commitment. He will either have our hearts in their entirety, or He will have nothing to do with us at all. Ultimately, God only demands one thing\u2014our full commitment to Him. We were made for our Creator, and He will not share us with another. He will not have us as His if we try to divide our ultimate allegiance between Him and anything else. In Elijah\u2019s day, many in Israel tried to serve God and someone else on the side. We are ever tempted to do the same. Let us remember the One for whom we were made that we might realize that we can be satisfied in Him\u00a0alone.<\/p>\n

No one can serve two masters.\u00a0 <\/span>Satan disguises it very well in our culture to the point we don\u2019t even know we are doing it. It soon gets to a point where we cling to our sin and try to cling to Jesus too.\u00a0 <\/span>We can not have it both ways. \u00a01John 2:15\u201317<\/span><\/a>: \u201cDo not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world\u2014the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life\u2014is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.\u201d<\/p>\n

The truth is that we can not buy into both realms because we will certainly be devoted to one over the other.\u00a0 <\/span>That is the problem, isn\u2019t it?\u00a0 <\/span>We want both and want to have the Lord’s blessings to do it.\u00a0 <\/span>That is not going to happen.\u00a0 <\/span>Why does scripture tell us to keep our eyes on Jesus, heaven, eternity and not on things of this world that pull us down paths away from God?\u00a0 <\/span>Don\u2019t try to keep one foot in the world and one in Christian faith.\u00a0 <\/span>We deceive ourselves into thinking we can have both.\u00a0 <\/span>We end up lukewarm, inefficient, blind, deaf, stiff-necked, fruitless, faithless, and forsaking the sacrifice\/torture Jesus gave to us on the cross so that we can live abundant and fruitful lives in and through Him.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
