Joshua 24:12 \u00a0 <\/span>You did not do it with your own sword and bow. So I gave you a land on which you did not toil and cities you did not build; and you live in them and eat from vineyards and olive groves that you did not plant.\u2019 \u201cNow fear the Lord and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.\u201d Then the people answered, \u201cFar be it from us to forsake the Lord to serve other gods! It was the Lord our God himself who brought us and our parents up out of Egypt, from that land of slavery, and performed those great signs before our eyes. He protected us on our entire journey and among all the nations through which we traveled. And the Lord drove out before us all the nations, including the Amorites, who lived in the land. We too will serve the Lord, because he is our God.\u201d Joshua said to the people, \u201cYou are not able to serve the Lord. He is a holy God; he is a jealous God. He will not forgive your rebellion and your sins. If you forsake the Lord and serve foreign gods, he will turn and bring disaster on you and make an end of you, after he has been good to you.\u201d But the people said to Joshua, \u201cNo! We will serve the Lord.\u201d Then Joshua said, \u201cYou are witnesses against yourselves that you have chosen to serve the Lord.\u201d \u201cYes, we are witnesses,\u201d they replied. \u201cNow then,\u201d said Joshua, \u201cthrow away the foreign gods that are among you and yield your hearts to the Lord, the God of Israel.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

It is one thing to say \u201cI will serve the Lord\u201d and another to do it.\u00a0 <\/span>Speaking the words are easy but the commitment of the heart to serve Jesus Christ over self is where the problem occurs.\u00a0 <\/span>There is a moment of commitment in our thought process but for some reason, it does not make it into a heart and soul deep desire.\u00a0 <\/span>We need a commitment so deep in our soul that life its self is second to humbly serving, honoring, worshiping, following, trusting, and obeying Jesus Christ.\u00a0 <\/span>We need a commitment so firm and reliant on Jesus that life\u2019s purpose, this side of eternity, is only fulfilled when serving, following, and obeying Him.<\/p>\n

There is so much that can pull at our walk with Jesus.\u00a0 <\/span>In our prosperity and ease of life, we allow neglect and complacency to slide into our lives and erode our daily foundational time in His word.\u00a0 <\/span>Intentionally choose to serve Him, commit fully to honoring and obeying Him, and keep your heart, mind, and soul fixed on Him every moment of every day.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
