Psalms 119:41<\/b>\u00a0<\/a><\/span> Let your steadfast love come to me, O LORD, your salvation according to your promise; \u00a0then shall I have an answer for him who taunts me, for I trust in your word. \u00a0And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth, for my hope is in your rules. \u00a0I will keep your law continually, forever and ever, and I shall walk in a wide place, for I have sought your precepts. \u00a0I will also speak of your testimonies before kings and shall not be put to shame, \u00a0for I find my delight in your commandments, which I love. \u00a0I will lift up my hands toward your commandments, which I love, and I will meditate on your statutes.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt must come to me<\/i>; or I shall never come to it.\u201d (Bridges)<\/p>\n

The Psalmist wanted God\u2019s word to remain in his mouth so that he could keep God\u2019s law. It was to glorify God through obedience to His word, not any self-serving purpose.<\/p>\n

I fear the more God’s word is void from purpose in our lives, we will soon only look at it for self-serving purpose rather than God glorifying purpose.\u00a0 Blessed is the person who finds purpose in humbly serving, honoring, glorifying, following, and obeying God.\u00a0 These blessings come in the form of peace, joy, love, kindness, hope, gentleness, courage, and strength.<\/p>\n

Blessings are never earned. They are given out of God’s steadfast love, mercy and grace.\u00a0\u00a0Blessings from God are for His glory and honor.\u00a0 Of course we benefit from them but this ought not be the self-seeking\u00a0 reason we seek them.\u00a0 How many times we read where this is true?\u00a0 I was lost and without hope – then God opened my heart and mind to salvation – I was saved – blessed by God with eternal understanding and knowledge – His word now speaks to my heart, mind and soul, blessing me with a path in life to honor and glorify this side of eternity, blessing me with promises of eternal life, and comforting me with His presence.<\/p>\n

There is a verse in a song “Every blessing I will turn back to Praise”<\/p>\n

Honor and glorify God first in your life through humbly serving, honoring, glorifying, following and obeying Him.\u00a0 And as the old hymn says<\/p>\n

  1. When upon life\u2019s billows you are tempest-tossed,
    \nWhen you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
    \nCount your many blessings, name them one by one,
    \nAnd it will surprise you what the Lord has done.<\/p>\n
