\u201cSo Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, \u201cIf you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples,\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cTherefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him,\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cwhoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

John 15:4<\/b>\u00a0<\/a>\u00a0Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.\u00a0I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.<\/p>\n

Luke 8:15<\/b><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0\u00a0As for that in the good soil, they are those who, hearing the word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bear fruit with patience.<\/p>\n

Acts 11:23<\/b><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0\u00a0When he came and saw the grace of God, he was glad, and he exhorted them all to remain faithful to the Lord with steadfast purpose,<\/p>\n

Galatians 2:20<\/b><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0\u00a0I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.<\/p>\n

Colossians 1:23<\/b><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0\u00a0if indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard,<\/p>\n

Hebrews 10:39<\/b><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0\u00a0But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls.<\/p>\n

1 John 2:24<\/b><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0\u00a0Let what you heard from the beginning abide in you. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, then you too will abide in the Son and in the Father.\u00a0\u00a0And this is the promise that he made to us\u2014eternal life.<\/p>\n

2 John 1:9<\/b><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0\u00a0Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God.<\/p>\n

2 Corinthians 13:5<\/b><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0\u00a0Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?\u2014unless indeed you fail to meet the test!<\/p>\n

Complacency, neglect and lacking fruit in our lives is a direct result of us not abiding in Christ. \u00a0Coming to the knowledge of salvation and forgiveness of sin through Christ is the beginning of our new life. \u00a0This new life is to continually bear much good fruit. \u00a0This fruit ought to be seen by others as a testimony to what Christ has done in our life. \u00a0Jesus said for us to abide in Him and we will bear fruit. \u00a0We can not bear fruit on our own. \u00a0It may seem like we can and do but it is clear from scripture that apart from abiding in Christ this fruit is not good. \u00a0Paul says we ought to examine and test ourselves. \u00a0Examine and test against what? \u00a0The only way is to spend time in scripture. \u00a0God’s word is able to discern thoughts and intents of our heart and mind. \u00a0Apart from His word how can this happen. \u00a0Just because we don’t read and have Holy Spirit speak conviction into our heart and mind, does not mean we are not responsible or accountable. \u00a0In fact many times we are reminded that being lukewarm is a very bad bad state of living to be in. \u00a0What are the fruits of the Spirit. \u00a0“But the fruit of the Spirit<\/b> is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.<\/em>” I am sure there are those who have what they consider all of these but apart from Christ we will never understand them in the proper context. \u00a0In His word we understand these and they come alive. \u00a0They are whispered into our life and we find them honoring God and not us. \u00a0We find it is through His steadfast love we and leading we experience these in a whole new way. \u00a0We find our life has purpose beyond that which we can see and touch. \u00a0We see this fruit have an impact not only in our lives but in the lives of others as the Holy Spirit leads us. \u00a0I am convinced that abiding requires staying in His word and a heart deep desire to humbly serve, honer, follow, and obey.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
