\u201cFor the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd he said to them, \u201cFollow me, and I will make you fishers of men.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0Immediately they left their nets and followed him.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

John 1:43<\/b>\u00a0<\/a>\u00a0The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, \u201cFollow me.\u201d \u00a0Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. \u00a0Philip found Nathanael and said to him, \u201cWe have found him of whom Moses in the Law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.\u201d \u00a0Nathanael said to him, \u201cCan anything good come out of Nazareth?\u201d Philip said to him, \u201cCome and see.\u201d \u00a0Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said of him, \u201cBehold, an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no deceit!\u201d \u00a0Nathanael said to him, \u201cHow do you know me?\u201d Jesus answered him, \u201cBefore Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.\u201d Nathanael answered him, \u201cRabbi, you are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!\u201d \u00a0Jesus answered him, \u201cBecause I said to you, \u2018I saw you under the fig tree,\u2019 do you believe? You will see greater things than these.\u201d \u00a0And he said to him, \u201cTruly, truly, I say to you, you will see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.\u201d<\/p>\n

These comments are not mine but I found interesting and share them with you. \u00a0All are called but many reject the calling outright.<\/em> \u00a0It is not a slight thing to refuse the summons of God\u00a0through his messengers. God will hold those who refuse that summons responsible on Judgment Day. \u00a0There is a more subtle way to refuse the summons. One may pay lip service to the external call but never truly embrace Jesus internally as offered in that call. \u00a0This refusal subjects us to God\u2019s\u00a0just judgment.\u00a0The bad news is we have no power in ourselves to change our rebellious hearts. The good news is God is pleased to change rebellious hearts by the invincible power of his Spirit.\u00a0If we have responded to the external call in repentance and faith, it is only because God has first been at work in\u00a0us to turn us to himself in Christ. Salvation is truly by grace alone. This truth is unsettling, but Jesus unsettles us for a reason. He wants us to find salvation and life in him alone, by grace alone. And only in Christ may we find an everlasting, unshakeable foundation.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
