He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, \u201cShow us the Father\u201d?<\/em>
\nJohn 14:9<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\nWe often hear the expression, \u201cLike father, like son\u201d\u2014and similar expressions: \u201cLike mother, like daughter,\u201d \u201cthe apple doesn\u2019t fall far from the tree,\u201d and \u201cchip off the old block.\u201d We know the meaning of all these proverbs: The traits and appearance of a mother or father are often replicated in their children. Traits are not perfectly passed on, but seeing parent and child together makes us think, \u201cOh, I\u2019m not surprised!\u201d<\/p>\n
When it comes to Jesus and His Father, appearances are not passed on since \u201cGod is Spirit\u201d (John 4:24). But as to traits, Jesus could say, \u201cHe who has seen Me has seen the Father.\u201d And Paul wrote of Jesus, \u201cIn Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily\u201d (Colossians 2:9). The writer to the Hebrews said, \u201cThe Son radiates God\u2019s own glory and expresses the very character of God\u201d (Hebrews 1:3, NLT). No wonder Jesus answered as He did when Philip said, \u201cShow us the Father\u201d!<\/p>\n
Many people wonder what God is like. They don\u2019t realize they can discover God\u2019s character by discovering the Person of Jesus Christ. (Jeremiah)<\/p>\n
