Put off the old man with his deeds.<\/em>
\nColossians 3:9<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\nThe Bible tells us to \u201cput off the old man.\u201d What does that mean? It doesn\u2019t mean tossing grandpa out the door. It means we\u2019re to turn away from the flawed traits we had before coming to Christ and from the corrupt nature we inherited from Adam.<\/p>\n
Perhaps you\u2019ve chosen to follow Christ, but you know there are some things you must toss out, some habits you must break, and some sins you must confess. You\u2019re not alone. Paul was speaking to the Colossians and to all of us when he said, \u201cPut off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him\u201d (Colossians 3:8-10).<\/p>\n
You have a new nature\u2014a Christly calling. If there\u2019s an area of residual sin in your life today, ask God to help you toss it out of your life. You can do it in the power of Christ!<\/p>\n
