And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.<\/em> Romans 5:20-21<\/strong> \u00a0<\/sup>Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more,\u00a0<\/span>so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Most Christians know the story of the hymn \u201cAmazing Grace.\u201d The author was John Newton who was converted to Christ while engaged in the British slave trade in the eighteenth century. He went on to become a pastor and worked energetically to abolish the slave trade in England. Though his memory began to fail him in his final years, he was always clear about two things: \u201cThat I am a great sinner and that Christ is a great Savior.\u201d<\/p>\n Newton\u2019s conviction\u2014that God\u2019s grace is greater than our sin\u2014was probably based on Paul\u2019s words in Romans 5:20: \u201cWhere sin abounded, grace abounded much more.\u201d As he wrote in \u201cAmazing Grace,\u201d Newton considered himself a \u201cwretch\u201d for having trafficked in the buying and selling of fellow human beings. But he found God\u2019s grace and forgiveness to be greater than his sin.<\/p>\n Regardless of what you may have done, never wonder if God\u2019s grace is sufficient for you. God makes \u201call grace abound toward you\u201d in \u201call things,\u201d qualifying you for \u201cevery good work.\u201d<\/p>\n Amazing grace!
