<\/p>\n
\nNum 16:19-35<\/b>\u00a0<\/a><\/span>\u00a0Then Korah assembled all the congregation against them at the entrance of the tent of meeting. And the glory of the LORD appeared to all the congregation.\u00a0And the LORD spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,\u00a0\u201cSeparate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment.\u201d\u00a0And they fell on their faces and said, \u201cO God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and will you be angry with all the congregation?\u201d\u00a0And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,\u00a0\u201cSay to the congregation, Get away from the dwelling of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram.\u201d\u00a0Then Moses rose and went to Dathan and Abiram, and the elders of Israel followed him.\u00a0And he spoke to the congregation, saying, \u201cDepart, please, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, lest you be swept away with all their sins.\u201d\u00a0So they got away from the dwelling of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram. And Dathan and Abiram came out and stood at the door of their tents, together with their wives, their sons, and their little ones.\u00a0And Moses said, \u201cHereby you shall know that the LORD has sent me to do all these works, and that it has not been of my own accord.\u00a0If these men die as all men die, or if they are visited by the fate of all mankind, then the LORD has not sent me.\u00a0But if the LORD creates something new, and the ground opens its mouth and swallows them up with all that belongs to them, and they go down alive into Sheol, then you shall know that these men have despised the LORD.\u201d\u00a0And as soon as he had finished speaking all these words, the ground under them split apart.\u00a0And the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up, with their households and all the people who belonged to Korah and all their goods.\u00a0So they and all that belonged to them went down alive into Sheol, and the earth closed over them, and they perished from the midst of the assembly.\u00a0And all Israel who were around them fled at their cry, for they said, \u201cLest the earth swallow us up!\u201d\u00a0And fire came out from the LORD and consumed the 250 men offering the incense.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/span>Ephesians 5:6-7<\/b><\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0\u00a0Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.\u00a0\u00a0Therefore do not become partners with them;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Even though more than 250 leaders opposed Moses and Aaron, they rightly understood this to be the work of\u00a0one man<\/b>. Korah was the center of all this. The LORD told Moses to warn the people of Israel to separate themselves from the rebellion of Korah, so that they would not be caught up in the judgment soon to come against them. The same attitude should be among God\u2019s people today. They should stay away from divisive, argumentative, contentious people in God\u2019s family. There should be an appropriate fear of being caught in the same judgment or correction that they will bring upon themselves.<\/p>\n
\nReject a divisive man after the first and second admonition, knowing that such a person is warped and sinning, being self-condemned.\u00a0(Titus 3:10-11<\/span><\/a><\/span>)<\/p>\n
Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them. For those <\/i><\/b>who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple.\u00a0(Romans 16:17-18<\/span><\/a>)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Divisive and contentious people will never\u00a0claim\u00a0to be divisive and contentious. They always consider their work a noble cause. Therefore, God\u2019s people need discernment to look at what others\u00a0do, not only at what they\u00a0say. It is not comfortable for us to see their families also judged, but this shows that the families of the rebellious, divisive, contentious people suffer also \u2013 often greatly. (Guzik)<\/p>\n
