<\/p>\n
\nExodus 20:22<\/b>\u00a0<\/a><\/span>\u00a0And the LORD said to Moses, \u201cThus you shall say to the people of Israel: \u2018You have seen for yourselves that I have talked with you from heaven.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/span>Deuteronomy 4:36<\/b><\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0\u00a0Out of heaven he let you hear his voice, that he might discipline you. And on earth he let you see his great fire, and you heard his words out of the midst of the fire.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/span>Nehemiah 9:13<\/b><\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0\u00a0You came down on Mount Sinai and spoke with them from heaven and gave them right rules and true laws, good statutes and commandments,<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/span>Hebrews 12:25-26<\/b><\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0\u00a0See that you do not refuse him who is speaking. For if they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, much less will we escape if we reject him who warns from heaven.\u00a0\u00a0At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, \u201cYet once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
\u201cYou have seen for yourselves that I have talked with you from heaven\u201d – It was unmistakable and assured that the voice was of God when He spoke the 10 commandments to them. No one would deny it or say that it was untrue.\u00a0 <\/span>As Christians, we often long for hearing the voice of God tell us what to do. We seek and desire a clear and direct voice telling us how to move forward or how to stop. Somehow we think it would be much better for us to hear it rather than walking in and by faith. Sometimes God just seems to be silent in our desire to hear Him speak us forward or out of a situation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
I am not saying God does not speak audibly because He has in the past. However, it would be a good refresher to know how God speaks to His creation.<\/p>\n
\u201c1. GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH SCRIPTURE<\/b><\/p>\n
\u201cAll Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work\u201d<\/i>\u00a0(2 Timothy\u00a03:16-17<\/span><\/a>).<\/p>\n
2. GOD SPEAKS THROUGH GIFTED TEACHERS WHOSE SOURCE IS THE BIBLE<\/b><\/p>\n
\u201cWe have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully\u201d<\/i>\u00a0(Romans\u00a012:6-8<\/span><\/a>).<\/p>\n
3. GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH DIFFICULTIES<\/b><\/p>\n
\u201cBefore I was afflicted I went astray, but now I obey your word. You are good, and what you do is good; teach me your decrees\u201d<\/i>\u00a0(Psalm\u00a0119:67-68<\/span><\/a>).<\/p>\n
4. GOD SPEAKS THROUGH THE HOLY SPIRIT<\/b><\/p>\n
\u201cBut the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you\u201d<\/i>\u00a0(John 14:26<\/span><\/a>).<\/p>\n
5. GOD SPEAKS THROUGH HIS CREATION<\/b><\/p>\n
\u201cThe heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge\u201d<\/i>\u00a0(Psalm\u00a019:1-2<\/span><\/a>).<\/p>\n
6. GOD SPEAKS THROUGH WHATEVER OR WHOMEVER HE CHOOSES, BUT NEVER IN DISAGREEMENT WITH THE BIBLE<\/b><\/p>\n
\u201cFor God does speak\u00a0\u2014 now one way, now another\u00a0\u2014 though no one perceives it\u201d<\/i>\u00a0(Job 33:14<\/span><\/a>).<\/p>\n
CAN ANYTHING KEEP US FROM HEARING GOD?<\/b><\/p>\n
Wrong attitudes, resentment, or unconfessed sins can create distance in our relationship with God. When this happens, confession and repentance will bring us back into a close relationship where we can hear from God again.\u201c<\/b><\/p>\n
