If they are driven hard for one day, all the flocks will die. Let my lord pass on ahead of his servant, and I will lead on slowly, at the pace of the livestock that are ahead of me and at the pace of the children, until I come to my lord in Seir.\u201d So Esau said, \u201cLet me leave with you some of the people who are with me.\u201d But he said, \u201cWhat need is there? Let me find favor in the sight of my lord.\u201d So Esau returned that day on his way to Seir. But Jacob journeyed to Succoth, and built himself a house and made booths for his livestock. Therefore the name of the place is called Succoth. <span style=\"color: #1a1a1a; font-size: 16px;\">And Jacob came safely to the city of Shechem, which is in the land of Canaan, on his way from Paddan-aram, and he camped before the city. And from the sons of Hamor, Shechem&#8217;s father, he bought for a hundred pieces of money the piece of land on which he had pitched his tent. There he erected an altar and called it El-Elohe-Israel.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p2\">And he said, Let us take our journey\u2014Esau proposed to accompany Jacob and his family through the country, both as a mark of friendship and as an escort to guard them. But the proposal was prudently declined. Jacob did not need any worldly state or equipment. Notwithstanding the present cordiality, the brothers were so different in spirit, character, and habits\u2014the one so much a man of the world, and the other a man of God, that there was great risk of something occurring to disturb the harmony. Jacob having alleged a very reasonable excuse for the tardiness of his movements, the brothers parted in peace.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">There is an important lesson to learn here.<\/p>\n<ol class=\"ol1\">\n<li class=\"li2\">Be at peace with others<\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\">Work hard at this peace<\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\">Trust in God<\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\">Rely on God<\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\">Set boundaries<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\">Even in peace, do not compromise and join or participate with ungodly behavior<\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\">Seek God\u2019s leading<\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\">Willing follow His guiding<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; &nbsp; Genesis 33:12\u00a0 Then Esau said, \u201cLet us journey on our way, and I will go ahead of you.\u201d But Jacob said to him, \u201cMy lord knows that the children are frail, and that the nursing flocks and herds are a care to me.
