Every time I read this passage I am encouraged by the faith of the centurion. \u00a0He understood the authority of Jesus when most around Him did not. \u00a0I have to imagine each of us struggle to understand and believe His authority over all things. \u00a0Yet if we expect to see His hand and deliverance don’t we have to believe He has the authority. \u00a0Can’t we trust Him to do that which we think is impossible. \u00a0Whatever is troubling you, seek Him for He has the authority if we have faith.<\/p>\n

\nWhen he had entered Capernaum, a centurion came forward to him, appealing to him, \u201cLord, my servant is lying paralyzed at home, suffering terribly.\u201d And he said to him, \u201cI will come and heal him.\u201d But the centurion replied, \u201cLord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof, but only say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I too am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. And I say to one, \u2018Go,\u2019 and he goes, and to another, \u2018Come,\u2019 and he comes, and to my servant, \u2018Do this,\u2019 and he does it.\u201d When Jesus heard this, he marveled and said to those who followed him, \u201cTruly, I tell you, with no one in Israel have I found such faith<\/strong><\/p>\n
\nThen they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. <\/strong>He sent out his word and healed them, and delivered them from their destruction. Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man<\/p>\n
\nHe went away from there and came to his hometown, and his disciples followed him. And on the Sabbath he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were astonished, saying, \u201cWhere did this man get these things? What is the wisdom given to him? How are such mighty works done by his hands? Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon? And are not his sisters here with us?\u201d And they took offense at him. And Jesus said to them, \u201cA prophet is not without honor, except in his hometown and among his relatives and in his own household.\u201d And he could do no mighty work there<\/strong>, except that he laid his hands on a few sick people and healed them.
