Ephesians 4:14\u00a0 <\/span>so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Acts 20:30-31<\/b><\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0\u00a0and from among your own selves will arise men speaking twisted things, to draw away the disciples after them.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Romans 16:17-18<\/b><\/span><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0\u00a0I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them.\u00a0\u00a0For such persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites, and by smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the naive.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Colossians 2:4<\/b><\/span><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0\u00a0I say this in order that no one may delude you with plausible arguments.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Colossians 2:8<\/b><\/span><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>1 John 2:26<\/b><\/span><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0\u00a0I write these things to you about those who are trying to deceive you.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>2 Thessalonians 2:2-5<\/b><\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0\u00a0not to be quickly shaken in mind or alarmed, either by a spirit or a spoken word, or a letter seeming to be from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come.\u00a0\u00a0Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction,<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>1 John 4:1<\/b><\/span><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0\u00a0Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>2 Timothy 4:3<\/b><\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0\u00a0For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions,<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Once people leave the Word of God they often then embrace fantastic fantasies. When a man rejects God\u2019s truth, it isn\u2019t that he believes in nothing; he will believe in\u00a0anything<\/i>. Their ears crave it. Their hearts feed on it. Their minds believe it. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Philosophy threatening us Christians is dangerous because it is not obviously sinful. It is high-sounding and seems highly intelligent. Vain speculation replaces God\u2019s truth. Deception and false direction pulls and takes captive those who are not rooted, watered, and growing (maturing) in the Word of God and their understanding and knowledge of Him. Paul is warning them about people who would come and speak charismatically about vain things that seem plausible because of the way they are presented, but in truth, it dilutes the gospel of Jesus Christ.\u00a0 <\/span>We have to be mindful of our innate desire to chase after worldly and fleshly stuff rather than the spiritual living water and bread of life found in Jesus Christ alone. As we grow in the knowledge and understanding of God\u2019s grace, mercy, and love the things of this world become less important.\u00a0 <\/span>Our hearts and minds daily continue to be filled to overflowing with more light, wisdom, discernment in what is God-honoring and glorifying and what is not.\u00a0 <\/span>A shallow commitment leads to neglect.\u00a0 <\/span>There will be no growth in our lives.\u00a0 <\/span>In fact, there will be just the opposite.\u00a0 <\/span>Once there is no desire for growth – a withering and shrinking decline takes place and tossing to and fro from every wind of doctrine takes root. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We are given the fullness of the Holy Spirit when we were born again.\u00a0 <\/span>We are given free will to choose to listen, follow, and obey its leading.\u00a0 <\/span>When we intentionally choose to desire more understanding and knowledge of God and what it means to live in such a way that honors and glorifies Him alone in all we say and do, then and only then will we display the peace, hope, and joy that only comes in and through Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
