{"id":110115,"date":"2021-01-26T04:41:20","date_gmt":"2021-01-26T10:41:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.prayingpint.com\/?p=110115"},"modified":"2021-01-23T07:50:54","modified_gmt":"2021-01-23T13:50:54","slug":"19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.prayingpint.com\/index.php\/2021\/01\/26\/19\/","title":{"rendered":"19.  &#8220;Their rejection of Jesus was rock-hard solid&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p2\">John 19:6When the chief priests and the officers saw him, they cried out, \u201cCrucify him, crucify him!\u201d Pilate said to them, \u201cTake him yourselves and crucify him, for I find no guilt in him.\u201d The Jews answered him, \u201cWe have a law, and according to that law he ought to die because he has made himself the Son of God.\u201d When Pilate heard this statement, he was even more afraid. He entered his headquarters again and said to Jesus, \u201cWhere are you from?\u201d But Jesus gave him no answer. So Pilate said to him, \u201cYou will not speak to me? Do you not know that I have authority to release you and authority to crucify you?\u201d Jesus answered him, \u201cYou would have no authority over me at all unless it had been given you from above. Therefore he who delivered me over to you has the greater sin.\u201d From then on Pilate sought to release him, but the Jews cried out, \u201cIf you release this man, you are not Caesar&#8217;s friend. Everyone who makes himself a king opposes Caesar.\u201d So when Pilate heard these words, he brought Jesus out and sat down on the judgment seat at a place called The Stone Pavement, and in Aramaic Gabbatha. Now it was the day of Preparation of the Passover. It was about the sixth hour. He said to the Jews, \u201cBehold your King!\u201d They cried out, \u201cAway with him, away with him, crucify him!\u201d Pilate said to them, \u201cShall I crucify your King?\u201d The chief priests answered, \u201cWe have no king but Caesar.\u201d So he delivered him over to them to be crucified.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p2\">\u00a0The Chief Priests, officials, and guards all rejected Jesus Christ.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>They willfully chose to reject Him and demand His death.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cWe have no king but Caesar.\u201d \u201cAway with him, away with him, crucify him!\u201d In their hearts of stone, their rejection of Jesus was rock-hard solid. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">As believers, when we read this account of how Jesus was rejected, beaten, whipped, and crucified our hearts ache and feel empty.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>We wonder how could they not see that this was the Son of God.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>We wonder what could be in their hearts and minds that did not allow them to see and understand who it was they were condemning. Pilate caught a glimpse of who Jesus was and tried to find a way to release Him.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>He knew one thing for sure and that was that this man, Jesus, did not deserve punishment or death.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>In the end, Pilate made his choice right along with those who demanded Jesus\u2019s death. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Rejection of Jesus can be aggressive like this or it can be passive.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 Every day<\/span>\u00a0we make choices.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>These choices will either honor and glorify Jesus Christ or they will either aggressively or passively not.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Jonah is a great example of aggressively rejecting what God told him to do.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>When Jonah was told to go to Nineveh he aggressively rejected what God told Him to do.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>\u00a0Though this is wrong I think it is far better to be aggressive in rejection than to be passively rejecting Jesus.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>When a person aggressively rejects what God has told them to do, that person has made an absolute conscience decision to reject it.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>They know it and they know God knows it.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Though their mind seems to be made up, their heart is not and God works through their heart to convict and turn them away from their acts of disobedience.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>Passive rejection is much more subtle.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>It quietly sneaks into the neglecting and complacent heart.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>It allows a person to passively reject things of God and living for God.
