ohn 5:45\u00a0 <\/span>Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father. There is one who accuses you: Moses, on whom you have set your hope. For if you believed Moses, you would believe me; for he wrote of me. But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe my words?\u201d<\/p>\n

Romans 2:17-29<\/b><\/span><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0\u00a0But if you call yourself a Jew and rely on the law and boast in God\u00a0\u00a0and know his will and approve what is excellent, because you are instructed from the law;\u00a0\u00a0and if you are sure that you yourself are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness0<\/b>\u00a0\u00a0an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of children, having in the law the embodiment of knowledge and truth\u2014\u00a0\u00a0you then who teach others, do you not teach yourself? While you preach against stealing, do you steal?\u00a0\u00a0You who say that one must not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples?\u00a0\u00a0You who boast in the law dishonor God by breaking the law.\u00a0\u00a0For, as it is written, \u201cThe name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Romans 3:19-20<\/b><\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0\u00a0Now we know that whatever the law says it speaks to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be stopped, and the whole world may be held accountable to God.\u00a0\u00a0For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Jesus did not call these religious leaders to a\u00a0new<\/i>\u00a0or a\u00a0different<\/i>\u00a0faith. He called them to believe what Moses, what the Scriptures, what His works, what John the Baptist each testified about Jesus: that He is the Messiah, the Son of God and God the Son. If they refused to believe this overwhelming testimony, it was unlikely they would believe Jesus\u2019 own\u00a0words<\/b>.\u00a0 <\/span>It is hard in this flesh to rely on faith.\u00a0 <\/span>We always seem to want to add something to it to make ourselves more right with God.\u00a0 <\/span>The fact remains though, that faith alone in Jesus is what makes us right before God.\u00a0 <\/span>In and through faith in Him we have been cleansed from our sin.\u00a0 <\/span>We have been born again.\u00a0 <\/span>We are a child of God.\u00a0 <\/span>There is nothing we could have done to earn this adoption into His family.\u00a0 <\/span>It is only through faith in Jesus Christ that we have been brought from death to life.\u00a0 <\/span>In this new life, our works should bring honor, glory, and praise to Jesus Christ.\u00a0 <\/span>In this new life, our actions and words should be directing people to give glory, honor, and praise to Jesus.\u00a0 <\/span>In this new life, we find purpose and satisfaction in humbly serving and honoring Jesus Christ.\u00a0 <\/span>In this new life, obedience is not an obligation but rather a desire.\u00a0 <\/span>In this new life, we seek to know and do His perfect will.\u00a0 <\/span>In this new life, our trust and reliance never stop growing, \u201cUNLESS\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>neglect and complacency have found root in our hearts and minds.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
